I'm a slacker

I'm a complete slacker, nothing else can be said for me, there is no justification for my absence, but I hope to start updating more frequently.

Time is Fiction

Edison Glass released their new album today, it's called Time is Fiction and I absolutely love it. I knew I would, I just love the way they sound and seeing them in concert made me love them more. The one song I suggest everyone listens to is All Our Memories it really shows their range.

Way to bust out another sweet album boys. Thanks for the hard work!

Suck it up!

So I was driving into work today and I heard this story about a man who used a stun gun on his 18 month old. I was thinking, what terrible thing could an 18 month old do that would suffice this kind of abuse and the obvious answer is: Nothing. However I was truly shocked (no pun intended) to find out the rest of the story. Apparently the reason the man was using a stun gun on his kid was that he "wanted his child to be tough... to be toughest cage fighter ever."

Read the whole thing here.

Are you kidding me? What the crap is wrong with people? "My baby is crying, he must not be tough, I'm going to make him tough! I'm gonna use my stun gun on him, that'll toughen him up! Put hair on his chest! Make him a man!" Is this really what some people think?

Eighteen months old. EIGHTEEN MONTHS OLD! He supposed to be soft and cuddly. He's still just a baby.

What is with our culture and thinking a man has to be uber-macho to be a man? I'm not discussing sexuality here, but why do guys that show any emotion at all always get the "Gay" moniker? Like I said, not going into the whole right and/or wrong side of this, but to a straight man, being called gay is an insult, agree with it or not, to most straight men this is truth.

What makes a man macho? Seriously what does it take? No emotions? Lack of intelligence? The ability to use a stun gun on an 18 month old?

I don't know and quite honestly I don't think I care. If being macho is what this man of men was, I don't want it.

Edison Glass - This House

If you've never seen this before, you must watch it now. I absolutely love this song and video. Edison Glass is quickly becoming one of my top 5 bands, we will see how awsome they are when they release their new album in February.

One note of interest, they have 2 lead singers. Yeah, 2 singers, not some dude that screams and some dude that sings, not some dude that raps and some dude that sings, 2 full time lead singers. They have pipes too, I mean they can wail. I saw them with Blindside (Check my other posts, about the greatest concert ever) and they blew me away. You don't have to like them, just listen.

It was a dark and stormy night...

...seriously! I was home sick from work yesterday, I was sitting watching TV minding my own business when I noticed how unusually dark it was, it's only 3 o'clockish and it looks like dusk.

I knew we were supposed to have some wild weather last night, but I had no idea it would be that bad. Yeah, so I don't watch the news or the weather channel or any of that. Most of the weather information I have is hearsay. So there I am, I decide to switch to one of the local stations and the regularly scheduled Oprah was not on! OMG! There's this huge radar map thingy that shows my impending doom on the horizon.

Big, bad, mean, storms rolling up from the southwest. You know, thunder, lightning, gallons of rain, hail and tornadoes. The first thing that runs through my head "Oh man, I can't wait to see this!" It's like the Grim Reaper is knocking on my door, and not only do I want to open the door, I want to invite him in and hand him the freaking sickle.

I absolutely love storms, I always have, my mother would scold me for saying that, but I honestly do. I love to go and drive through the hail, howling wind, lightning, and torrential rain. I don't know why, I just do. Unfortunately it was not to be, I was still sick, thus being at home, and I really didn't feel like going anywhere. I know some people lost a lot in the storms and I truly do sympathize with them. I still can't help but hope that another one comes through soon. I can't wait to go driving in the storm with ole GR as my passenger.

Wii've Had A Great Christmas...

I got one! I can't believe it, I was completely stunned and amazed. That's right ladies (lady) and gentlemen (gentleman), I got a Wii.

I first played one this summer and have wanted one ever since. I'm a total Nintendo Fanboy and have been since the NES. I just have always liked their games more than other systems. Mario, Zelda, Final Fantasy (which later jumped ship and then returned), these are staples of the Nintendo experience. So far, I've owned all of the MAJOR Nintendo systems. Some hardcore fannies would argue that since I didn't have the Virtual Boy or since I skipped on the Gameboy Advance that I'm missing some. I however would disagree, while Virtual Boy was a completely different system it cannot be considered a major Nintendo system, it didn't have the selling power or the game base to justify it as major. The GBA on the other hand was a little more advanced (hence the name) than the GameBoy, but it can still be played on the Nintendo DS so I feel justified by my statement.

My favorite system thus far is still the SNES (Super Nintendo Entertainment System). I don't know maybe I'm sentimental about my childhood, but seriously the game play was amazing. Great innovative story lines, puzzles, quests, etc. The games were just too awesome. I do have to give credit to the N64 (Nintendo 64) in a world of 32 bit systems, it stood out. Unfortunately it was WAY ahead of it's time and got beat out in terms of sales by the Sony PlayStation.

Then something strange happened, as other consoles were focusing on mid-teens to adults, Nintendo went for the kids. Yes, I own a GameCube and honestly I love it. I do wish some of the games weren't so cheesey, but Nintendo still excels at game play.

... and now we have the Wii. How do I feel about it? So far I love it, I've only played a few hours and I only have the Wii Sports game that comes with it, but it has been a blast thus far. While the games still have a kiddie feel, the game play is completely out of this world.

I will probably be getting Super Mario Galaxy soon, I will update you as time goes on!

Busy, oh so busy...

I'm a naturally lazy person, some of favorite days are ones that I've done absolutely nothing, not taking a shower, wearing basically what I wore to sleep in (generally my skivvies), rarely even opening the front door. This to me is a fantastic day, I usually order a pizza or order from QuikDine, so I don't even have to cook. I'm telling you, I'm lazy. Well something crazy has happened in my life lately... I'm so frigging busy. Amazingly enough, I don't mind that much. Sure, I still love not doing anything, but I never knew how much fun not not doing anything could be.

Is this maturity? I doubt it. I still think I would be happier lounging on my couch slamming down some Mountain Dew and pizza, but it's kinda cool not being a slob. I urge you to try it sometime.
